Hello all, here is a quick run down of my camera gear and why I chose to put it in my travelling gear!
Canon 1100D Body
Not the greatest canon DSLR, but it takes good enough photos for my travels! A 12.2 megapixel camera in the entry level range, which has served me well so far and has taken some stunning photos!
18-55mm EF-S F3.5-5.6
The kit lens with the 1100D body, it has served me well and is continuing to give me great images when I need a wider shot, and a nice amount of zoom too. A great lens to get started and a great introduction to the world of DSLR photography
50mm EF F1.8
The 50mm prime lens, one of the most used out of my gear. Mostly used for street photography and boasts a F1.8 aperture, which means it can be fantastic in low light areas, and gives a great “professional camera” look to the photos; which means shallow depth of field making your subject stand out more.
75-300mm EF F4-5.6
After the first few trips out with this lens i deemed this one to be a bit of a waste of money, UNTIL I took it out recently and found out its true capability. I was totally shocked that I could take great photos with this after the first bad run with it! The lens has that great flexibility to go to long distance photography, great for photos at nature parks or even sports! Check out these from Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park
24mm EF-S F2.8
My newest lens, not fully tested out in my travels as of yet. But I believe this will be a great alternative for street photography, giving it a little more natural perspective to the photos. I cannot wait to get out about about with it and see what I can do!
I typically use :
- Petal shaped lens hoods for my 58mm lens threads and a circular hood for my 52mm lens threads.
- Pixel wired remote for timed pictures or long exposures
- Vivitar tripod for all my tripod needs
- 32GB memory card
- Lowepro camera bag for transportation
Thank you for reading and i hope to see you back here soon!
